Story of one event - Vdovichen Anastasia, 20100 program winners, Okhtyrka, Sumy region

On December 1, 2010 we started implementing the project of creating the Center for assisting social adaptation of labor migrants children – it is six months' program for a group of students of 6-11 grades; the program is aimed to solve the problem of insufficient protection for children of labor migrants, who make a high risk group. The school community and that of the city need to understand the notion of "labor migrants' children", concept of "community as society" and potential of this category of unprotected children.
In March in Okhtyrka Center of social adaptation for children of labor migrants (on the basis of "ªâðî Stella" club at Okhtyrka high school, the club leader - Î.V.Myronyak) Anastasia Vdovichen conducted one of the series of trainings.
Students of 6-11 grades, mostly girls, took part in the training. The event was conducted to arrange psychological support, determine problems of this category of children, and their further uniting. A special goal in wortk with children is to form highly developed personality able to bacome a professional, understand her/his affiliaton with contemporary European civilization and be ready to live in XXI century. The training participants learned to understand personal responsibility, discussed individual peculiarities and problems of children, whose parents work abroad, learned to define directions of tolerant behavior and constructive communication. They discussed the following notions: refugee, schedule seeker, displaced person, stereotypes, culture, prejudice, tolerance.
Further the girls will get necessary knowledge in legal protection, esthetic appearance, clothes design and culture of behavior. It is planned toorganize and conduct video review of feature films and documentaries on legal topics, show of fashion and cosmetics, round table on health protection and safety behavior of risk group children (girls).
Community will get to know about the program through mass media, the
Center for assisting social adaptation of labor migrants children will be created.
